How can I fix my rear wind screen wiper on my vauxhall astra 3dr 2003?

My rear wind screen wiper seems to have a loose connection as it is not responding to the controls at all.

The wires flex where they go through to the hatchback and one may have broken. If it has use a "piggyback" wire to bridge the break.
