How can I fix the element in Simpson Maxidry 10S?

Have inserted the new element and think it is correctly fitted but it still does not heat up. Have replaced the drive belt and had the unit running. All works OK but the new element does not heat up. Any suggestions? Old tumble dryer Simpson Maxidry 10S.

Check that the thermostats have not gone open circuit. They are situated on the heating element and in the outlet duct. There should be continuity through the switches when at room temperature, but go open circuit when the unit overheats and switches the element off. Thermostat switches can not be repaired, you will have to purchase new ones if they are faulty.
