iveco 4910 handbrake removal?

my iveco 4910 has a fault on the handbrake mechanism in the rear hub. the brake will not hold the vehicle enough for the mot, and will not release completely unless the vehicle rolls backwards an inch or two. Is it nessessary to remove the half shaft to gain access to the handbrake drum ?? If so what are the torque settings for the rear wheel bearings?? Vehicle 4910> year 1997.

you do not have to remove the half shaft as it is possible to remove the drum from the drive flange when the brake shoe adjuster has been adjusted as far back as possible (my sons which i have just overhauled was very difficult to do this as it had not been very well maintained ,also the brake drum took some persuading to release from the drive flange with a large hammer and wood block).
