Pug 308 petrol, year 2008.

Depollution fault code:

Just the same issue as everyone on here reports. Mine has had a set of Spark plugs, Coil packs, Vacuum unit. Dealer admitted the cause is a heavy build up of carbon on the valves and pistons also on the valve stems indeed throughout the induction system a well known problem that the French maker refuses to accept mind you doing some research on the internet over this carbon build up issue it most certainly appears they are 'not alone'.

Solution de-coke of the top end of the engine and do an engine oil flush to clean the crankcase!! Now that takes me back to my (very) early days with Hillman Minx, Ford Consul MK 2 and a brace of Ford Zephyrs. Easy jobs to do on those motors and needed every few thousand miles but on this engine not something that I would want to attempt at my age - fast approaching 80.

So pouring some injector and fuel cleaning stuff from www.powerenhancer.co.uk into the tank to start the process off!

Not a supporter of 'snake oil' in general but have used a fuel additive from them on my 16 yr old E class 2.7 ltr oil burner and it has transformed it - but that is another story.

Desperate times make for desperate attempts.

Never had a pug before and purchased this for our daughter to use while she is over here from OZ when she goes home it WILL GO and good riddance, it is no better than a pile of well fermented excrement...

Fixed: 207CC 2008 with the same message, loss of power, engine vibrating and once engine is turned off cooling fan would kick in noisily for a few minutes. Took it to my local garage and they said they suspected a faulty spark plug or something connected to it. Indeed spark plug was a problem so they put a new set in and now the car runs better then before. Oh, first thing I tried was to get a CataClean but had no effect on solving the issue.

Had Depollution System Faulty warning coming up just after starting the car and engine light staying on - 2008 Peugeot 308 HDi. Could drive car but ran very rough and even worse if turned aircon on. Had a very good mechanic who checked everything and couldn't fault anything via the computer but decided to replace the mass airflow meter - it turned out even though there was no fault on the meter, it was the issue. Car now runs beautifully and very smooth.

Hi my Peugeot 308 1.6 thp keeps intermittently losing power as if in limp mode but with warning message or lights. This can last for hours or days or weeks and sometimes would work and not work in the same journey. When it's not having the issue it drives perfectly. It use to display devolution system fault which lead me to have replaced This year a new turbo, turbo coolant pump, high pressure fuel pump, coolant level sensor and turbo inlet manifold and a new turbo solenoid and all regular full services as recommended and still the problem persist. Please can you help me here. Oh and Peugeot did the repairs iv had so far

Pug 207 1.4 sport, 2008 reg, depollution system faulty! Have had both sensors replaced at almost £300, lasts 4 months an now been driving since July with this damn fault! Bought Cataclean also! I went to main dealer, then recommended garage by dealer as they were busy. had full service and everything newly changed but problem every 3-4 days now and driving me loopy! I want px vehicle I love and have owned 4 years, but can set off with no fault light and then it just appears and what dealer is going except it? Why wont Peugeot recall an fix once and for all?

It happened to my '07 GT as well with only 59K kms. My Pug went on limp mode halfway to my 400kms trip. Thank God for the 4G signal, went on to this forum & took the advice by pouring a bottle of fuel additive. Went on to drive for another 200kms & the revs went back up to normal and the depollution warning fault eventually disappeared. The car is due for service this week.

Hi, just experienced the dreaded depollution system fault. Car was just serviced 7 days ago and stayed at home until today. After a run on the highway, the depollution system fault starts to show. A few miles on the air conditioning stopped functioning. Then the engine started to lose power and cough. Looks like fancy pant French car maker just pulled a fast on all of us and better still they did not know what is causing this problem too. I will try advices from this group and report on the progress...not much hope it will be cured.
Oh I did have a vacuum valve sequence failure a few months ago after repairing the left hand side window. Deal do not know what was wrong. Had them rebooted the system. Start and stop car once. System cleared and power steering works again. Stupid technology

Hi Vic (if you're still on here or failing that, someone who has had success with his method), can you tell me which Cataclean you used please? Was it the one for catalytic converters http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cataclean-Catalytic-Converter-Cleaner-for-Petrol-Diesel-450ml-/291497349744?hash=item43de989270:g:SaIAAOSw-vlVhh6- or the one specifically for DPF? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cataclean-Diesel-Particulate-DPF-Cleaner-Treatment-PROTECT-YOUR-DPF-Low-Soot-/232124717274?hash=item360bb618da:g:7uIAAOSwn7JYD4XJ
Thanks in advance

in a previous message i replaced the timing chain ,guides and guides and the car was fine for some time then the dreaded depolution alarm reared its ugly head.engine developed a masfire every time it was started never on the same cylinder sometimes the low fuel pressure at rail came up so i think fuel filter, hunted every part of the fuel system ,no filter fitted in the system. i was told by a third party that peugeot only fit filters in cars in countrys with poor fuel quality.so i got a filter and fittings and put a filter in the system after the pump in the fuel tank this helped a little but still had problems with misfire .eventually tracked down the problemchanged the engine driven high pressure fuel pump .differentcar now goes likestink now finally got all my 175 horses back its been a long time coming but we got there. hope this helps sombody else.

H M DOC DIESEL, May 2016
This happened to me the other night and it looks like from my research this could mean a number of things!

The best thing is to hook it up to the computer and look at the error codes.

Mine was fuel delivery pressure low and simply replacing the Fuel Filter fixed my issue.

The main problem EP6 with crankcase ventilation.

Repair kit valve cover for Peugeot 308, 3008, 207 (A7) engine EP6
Membrane valve cover for Peugeot 308, 207 (A7) engine EP6
OEM 0248.Q5
new diaphragm valve for crankcase ventilation.
producer sells only cover entirely.
they (vanos-bmw.com/peugeot-ep6-membrane-valve-cover) produce membrane separately!

replacement is very easy, you need to remove the valve cover by prying it with a screwdriver.
remove the old and install the new membrane.
close the cover.
Good luck

Tims, October 2015
I dont think there is a solution to that problem.
Peugot should work on that aspect in their subsequent models.

anti depollution warning on my DS3 - 3 months later engine replaced as piston not working properly (they are BMW engines by the way) fortunately under warranty on acar that had dome 5k otherwise I would have had to have written it off. 1.5 years later now same warning and this time they think its the cat converter - £1,400.....

mike, June 2015
I have the same prob on a 407, comes and go's but dont have any probs with performance but have learnt to live with it. Re the side light warning light, it's usually an earthing problem, check the multi-pin connector for any corrosion on the earth side.

marti, June 2015
I had exactly the same problem plus it was in for a mot and it wouldn't pass cos of high emissions, the garage tried everything the last thing he did was put new spark plugs in and hey presto back to my little nippy 207 and no anti pollution light has appeared, hope this helps someone

Maureen, May 2015
I followed Vics advice & it took about a week for the car to run normal. Great power & the warning light went off. 2 days later, warning light came back on & loss of power. I have found that when I start up the car, if I just drive round the corner, if there's no power there, if I switch off the engine then start it back up, it runs normal. Sometimes, if I'm sat at traffic lights, I might lose the power again, so I rev the engine while I'm sat waiting for the traffic lights to change. It's my first Pug & my last! Will be changing back to a Ford........ Eventually!

i been advice to use expensive fuel.. here in malaysia we have Shell (97).. once in remote area.. i do hav no option .. then i use shell (95).. after few days.. the fault massage appear.. wow.. i m panic.. then i full my tank with shell (97).. and after second time full with it.. no more fault massage appear.. so i think.. always use expensive fuel.. thx all for the idea here

robin ahmad, April 2015
My depollution warning light came on last year, did try the Cataclean a couple of times ended up paying for a new Lambda sensor to be fitted, after 80 miles the dam warning light came on again..... only use posh petrol. Just had a service and reset all warning lights, again only lasted 80 miles, also side light failure warning keeps coming on but lights are OK another thing the outside temp was reading -5 this morning and it was mild. Spoke to my guy he is going to try something else tomorrow to clear all warnings as need an MOT and then getting rid of the French pile of sh*t.

pug 207gti power loss and depollution light on its already had new chain tensioners and sprockets full timing kit ,tried new plugs ,cataclean, unpluged maf ,none of this made any difference.also used seafoam to decarbonise.this car is the worse car ever.im totally at a loss.

Hi
I brought the cataclean added to a quarter of a tank of my 2007, 207 and then drove it 15 miles down the motorway. Then took the dog for a walk, on my return found the fault still there, thought 'bah' so went to the garage to fill up with the expensive petrol.
Started the car fault has now cleared 'result ' thanks Vic!
However early days fingers crossed.

Rob, January 2015
Hi,

De pollution error came up and +/- 150 Km later lost power. Cylinder 1 has no compression, reason piston cracked and broke. Finding is that it's because of detonation... this is 3 main things. 1. Air 2. Fuel 3. Spark. and there where it all comes together. So if any of this is wrong you get a detonation problem. 8 months after I purchased my 2009 308 XT I have to replace my entire engine... for some reason no one can tell me why this happened... I had the shudder in the car from the time I bought it and complained to the dealership but there was always an excuse to not pick it up and check... WHAT TO DO!!!! I need an e-mail address for the Peugeot technical department in their manufacturing division as I have questions only they can answer. I hate my car and will never purchase another Peugeot.

Steve Brand, January 2015
Tried Cataclean and car ran fine for three days then the fault reappeared. I told the garage it was pointless doing another diagnostic and to try changing the lambda sensors. Success! Had the pre Cat and post Cat lambda sensors changed and car is running perfectly again (for now). Hoping to enjoy driving the car again and hoping it gets to the good weather so I can drive with the lid down :-)

Loz, January 2015
I have had same issue since buying my 57 plate Peugeot 207 1.6 CC in November. Took it to Halfords for diagnostic check and 9 fault codes came up. Every time they cleared them off different fault codes appeared! They couldn't figure it out so referred me to the main dealer but same thing happened. Halfords btw didn't charge for the check as they couldn't cure the problem. Different story with the main dealer :-/. Anyway the car was running fine for a few days then yesterday it had sudden loss of power with no warning light or message displayed. I've totally lost confidence in driving the car but am going to work my way through the list of suggested fixes provided on this forum. However, there does not seem to be a straight forward answer - fuel pump, timing chain, tensioners, sensors, Catcleaner, coil packs, spark plugs etc etc. I love this car but it has put me off EVER buying another Peugeot.

Loz, December 2014
after a lot of study idecided to do surgery bought a timing kit and timing chain kit consisting of new crankshaft sprocket, pulley hub, timing chain, guides, adjuster, anti knock pad,and new set of bolts. tried to set the timing to check it b4 we ctripped it down and found the valve to b out,so we proceeded to remove the existing chain and guides and such . we then set the engine timing up with the timing kit ,this locks the crank and cam shafts in the correct position to fit all the new parts to the correct torque wrench settings.on comptetion we removed the timing kit and rotated the engine 4 complete turns by hand and refitted the timing tools and everything was bang on.we then cleared the codes and took a test drive .verdict if it had wings it would fly.as far as i am aware this is a problem on the cooper s having the same engine.so im afraid cat cleaner and other crazy ideas are a load of bull.i paid £120 for all the parts and £65 ror the timing kit i used all original peugeot parts, and most important of all u dont need a dealership to carry out this job .we found it fairly easy to do its not rocket science any fairly competent mechanic can do it.dealerships only rup u off i hope this helps anybody with the same problem.

H M DOC DIESEL, December 2014
Can someone please repost Vic's response here? I brought my car for a service and the mechanic couldn't find the fault, it is happening again and it's winter, so I'm slightly worried that I'll be stranded somewhere....,

Yvonne, December 2014
Just got the message! Found this site and followed the advice to reset the fault message, it worked so drove round for half an hour because I have a full tank of fuel. All good, thank you so much for saving me an expensive trip to the garage. Cataclean purchase on my to do list for tomorrow.

Previously tried Vic's advice with great success in the summer, DSF light came back on few weeks ago - had it fully serviced, still the same, used Vic's method twice now & still driving in limp mode:( Any advice??? - noticed the car time/date reverts back to 0 on ocasions when the car is stood for a few days - is this a battery problem or related to DSF light?

Tracey, November 2014
how long after the CATACLEAN has been in the car does it take to take effect? I followed Vic's advice from feb 2014, and my light still on- does it take a few days for the cleanse to work through?

Juzzillapod, October 2014
Vic - thank you for your advice to use CataClean. I had this problem on my 207cc a while back and took it into the garage who couldn't really identify the issue. They changed my spark plugs (they say, but they probably used the CataClean solution for £15 and charged me 10 times that!) and lo and behold 3 months later the problem has returned 'Depollution System Faulty'. So took your advice, hot footed it to Halfords and it has solved the problem. So, thank you very much for sharing your solution - and to anyone else thinking of trying this, do! It works!

Sonia, October 2014
now im getting the fault message too, aswell as the rest of the poor people on this forum! the thing is this fault message occurred after having not driven it for about a month and the battery going flat too, there is no loss of power when driving it(fingers crossed) , so I can only presume it has occurred due to the car not being driven..but after reading the answers on this I think I will first try disconnecting the battery and using cataclean/redex and resorting to using more expensive fuel(as ive been tanking up at ASDA'S) before getting someone to read the codes off, then will probably look into getting a new battery or changing spark plugs and coil packs and perhaps looking into changing fuel filters/pumps and sensors.
Modern cars are changing for the worse theres too many sensors involved these days, I used to drive the old pug 205 gti and use to love it, the car used to be simple to fix, no engine diagnostics and as a qualified autoelectrician I used to fix the electrics on it too, it was that simple!

loved the 205 GTI, September 2014
I followed the advice of Vic (Feb 2014) for my Peugeot 308 depollution fault and it worked! Car now running perfectly and only cost me £15 approx for cataclean from Halfords - engine warning light has turned off as well.
Thank you Vic - you saved me a lot of stress and money!

Hi, I'm currently stranded in Norway my 207 had the depollution warning come up and the car cut out, i got it started again and got it back to the campsite this was last Sunday. The AA have taken it to a peugeot garage but they can't seem to fix the problem, since then I have seen what Vic has said on how to fix it. So do I try to fix it myself ? I'm just after any advice really thank you

Paul, August 2014
Well, I always have faith in Peugeot cars and driven many models until 407. The Gearbox is no longer the Peugeot used to have and is so sluggish and worst of all the new model fitted with Japanese scrap iron gearbox which failed middle of the road not one but many. Every now and then the depollution system fault appears and all of a sudden the instrument panels fail to operate. went to Peugeot they reset or "Initialisation of the ECU" and the depollution fault dissappeared for couple of months. As one suggested above that taking of the +ve battery is also a solutions.
Peugeot all over the world has lost their interest in producing better cars. Their main concern is bottom line is "PROFIT" and customers can go to HELL for all I care.
Britain, Europe, USA have lost their usefulness to the Chinese and Japanese. Why buy my local parts where I can get much cheaper from these countries?? Failed to realize that if these turn their taps off they are DEAD which is happening right now. GM recalls cars, British loss automobile industries. Japanese built their parts which only last in their country and outside market 50 percent gone. So we all fools buying Branded stuff and land up being screwed by the garages and agents. Simply because the agents themselves DO NOT KNOW HOW IT WORKS, why "Made in China or Japan". Dingdong here and there until you get so sick with them. don't forget japanese sells you cheap stuff BUT you NEVER get the know how and stuck with it. Not any better with Chinese stuff in their language worst.
There are more problems with the Peugeot 207, 307, 408, 508 than the 407.

Good luck guys!!!

Stallion, May 2014
My Peugeot 207 16 autom sport showed depollution system faulty and drove like a dog,it came on after having a new fan belt fitted, i took it back and the garage advised me to get rid of it as its an ongoing fault with such cars, the second garage advised to go to Duff Morgan in Norwich, they charged me over £770 for a computer diagnostic and parts from France, after a month its back again, i only do low mileage and every service is recorded correctly, its history is spot on .So here we go again ,the last job took would you believe about ten days,

Alan Shacklock, May 2014
Picked up my 2007 207 cc gt today 23,330 miles drove 30 miles befit the dreaded depollultion light appeared and limp mode enacted ! Drove back up the m1 at 55 mph! The garage are going to look at it and have assured me they will sort it iiii I now have my old oil burning mondeo back until they do? If I had read this I would not have brought one. I don't have any answers as yet but I will update as soon as I do! I normally keep my cars for sometime, this maybe the shortest time!

Pete [ fed up], May 2014
Can this occur to me today- new job too, so not a great day!
Had coil changed, it's now fine :-)

The advice below from Vic is brilliant!! My 207cc had the warning light on and kept cutting out every time I took my foot off the accelerator! Roundabouts were terrifying!! (I'd recent done a 260mile round journey, just before the light came on! so other people's advice of 'take it for a long drive' seemed pointless!)
Vic's advice worked perfectly. After about 15mins driving it started to drive better. After 20mins it had stopped cutting out! Fingers crossed it's all sorted now! I will continue to use Cataclean every 3-4 months now to hopefully stop this problem reoccurring.
Thank you so much Vic :)

Debs, April 2014
I brought my pug for peanuts because the car had the dreaded de pollution issues which put the car into limp mode, the seller thought it was going to cost an arm and a leg to put right so sold it really cheap.
After some research I cured the problem for a total cost of £15.
Firstly don't go to Peugeot as they have no clue how to cure this problem they will tell you that it will cost hundreds to sort out to get rid of you unless your stupid and agree to get them to do the work.
DONT USE SUPERMARKET FUEL as its Shxxx and will clog up all the filters activating the fault, why do you think the fuel is cheap. Use BP, Shell etc these fuels cost a bit more but its cleaner and has detergents mixed into it.
To be eco friendly the French put another stupid sensor and filter by the catalytic converter which is the main problem for de pollution system problems.
SO TO GET TO THE POINT ON HOW TO CURE THIS PROBLEM.
1. Wait to the fuel level is just above the red then pour in a bottle of CATACLEAN into the tank. Drive around for about 20 minutes so this miracle liquid gets to where it needs to go then go to a petrol station and put in 15 litres of fuel. After a short while the sludge will clear and the car will drive how it should. I brought this product from Halfords but you can get it on EBay for a couple of quid cheaper.
Because of the poxy particle filter on French cars your going to repeat this process every three months otherwise its going to happen again.
LASTLY....
If the engine management warning light is activated because of the De pollution warning and won't turn off follow these simple steps to remove it

1. Press the TRIPMETER button (mileage reset) on the dashboard.
2. Keep your finger on the button while you turn on the ignition. Don't turn the engine on.
3. After 20 seconds the display will read "0"
The service symbol will extinguish and will turn off the management warning light. No need to disconnect the battery.
By following these steps I sorted my problem out and avoided paying hundreds to a mechanic who probably doesn't know what's the cause.
I hope this had been of help to you.

vic, February 2014
I have had my 407 HDI on a 55 plate for 5 years now.The car has done 70000 trouble free miles and sails through MOT tests with only routine tasks required. The depollution fault can occur at about 70mph on motorways but clears quickly. It is in my opinion exacerbated by supermarket fuel. I have done thousands of miles with various fuel mixes and the fault goes away as quickly as it arises.
Local garage fitted brakes, discs etc and when I picked it up engine management light was on so it must have happened on their road test.Next morning started first button, no fault and no engine managment warning light with no expense. This fault is common and has just ocurred on a test drive what an embarassement but I am glad the person took my explanation on board.
To recap fill with BP, Texaco, Shell and it should settle down. Fault has not cost me a penny yet as I have followed similar forum posts as this one.

ive had the depollution light come on a couple of times. i also bought the car second hand which makes me think the previous owner sold the car like i will do. when i had the car diagnosed it came up with catalytic converter faulty so after changing this the problem is still there. i re-diagnosed the problem at now its telling me its the timing chain, my car is also sluggish and sounds like im chewing up the sprockets in my engine this is going to cost around £600 and im not happy peugeot need to find a solution to this problem as its not going to go away

Peugeot 207 1.4 32,000 miles , car struggling on acceleration and sounds really sluggish, depollution light stays on. Had it to 2 garages who took it to the peugeot dealership on seperate occasions (2 wks apart ) and confirmed timing chain stretched and it was a common problem they have. Went to peugeot garage myself as my mates advised that peugeot had the tools to do the job . Peugeot denied on going problems with 207s to my face but i knew they were talking rubbish,i couldnt disclose what i knew as my car had 2 free diagnostics tests from the SAME garage and didnt want to stitch up the mechanics. They acknowledged timing chain shouldnt have gone at such low miles however garage going to replace parts for £470 all in so not as much as expected so feel a discount has been applied . My spark plugs have been changed, exhaust stripped down, lambda sensor changed and checked for blockages all to no avail prior to final diagnostics . Defo ongoing problem with peugeots i believe ,just my story about my car as i am not a mechanic but rely on the people who know best but some of them hide the TRUTH from us ! .

Have the same De-pollution fault with my '56 Peugeot 207. It's now 7 years old and warning first appeared when car hit around 19,000 miles. I have only done 22,000 now (roughly 3,000 miles pa). Car takes time to pick up speed, for example when changing gear on turning a corner. Also when in first gear pulling off, have to put foot down on the gas. It has always been serviced by Peugeot until this year. Have taken it to two different garages who were unable to help. The diagnostics tests came up with no faults. The fault warning has never re-appeared but car still sluggish and not nice to drive. Peugeot informed me that a diagnostics test would cost £140! Perhaps I need to take it for a good long drive at 60/70 mph - who knows? I'm baffled. Feel like getting rid of it. :-(

Caroline Maguire, November 2013
I have a 207 on a 07 plate, De pollution light has just come on, The car has only done 18000 miles, but I only ever do short local journeys, so going to take it down the motorway for a few miles and blow the cobwebs out, see if that changes anything, is it a coincidence that I used the air con for the first time this week?

Linda Lou, November 2013
I have a '06 307SW 1.6Hdi with 295,000 km. This depollution system warning light just came on today but I have had the "limp-home" problem for several weeks now. On last service the fuel filter didn't get changed so this may be the cause but from reading lots of forums about this problem I will be trying several other remedies as well. The timing was done at 260,000 km so I don't think it will be the timing chain tensioner but I will be trying all other suggestions including cleaning the EGR valve.
I will report back when I find a solution to the problem. I definately want to find a solution as this is the first time I have had any problems with the car since new.

Just pump higher ron rating petrol and go for a drive.

It will go away...

I had the same problem too on my 207 GTi and the guys at peugeot diagnosed the problem which was the the timing chains and tensioners. Lucky for me the warranty covered the cost however two months later the same problem has occurred again, the car is booked in for repairs.

I have a 308 Peugeot and I faced this problem a couple of days ago. I took my car to PEUGEOT workshop and the problem was fixed in 45 minutes.
There is a valve just at the engines front side. This valve is responsible for passing the necessary oil to the engine upon accelerating or decelerating. The valve usually gots damaged after sometime (almost 50,000 km) and should be replaced. It costs about (100 €) including workmanship.

Peugeot 207 cc 2008 34000 miles 2 weeks ago broke down with no warnings lights lit. Got towed to Peugeot main dealer. Told me it was definately a worn timing chain and a coolant sensor. Changed it at a cost of £620. Informed me that the car still wouldnt start and they had found that the cat was blocked. Would need replacing at an extra £600. Assured me that this would solve the problem.Went to pick car up and the "depollution system faulty" warning appeared so left it with them. 2 days later picked car up. It nows runs but the "depollution system faulty" warning has come up after 15 miles of driving. Going back tomorrow to moan. They had the car 8 days to do this work, Contacted Peugeot customer relations who told me they cannot help and it is between myself and the dealer

I havè the same depollution system faulty, I've been to local garage who has explained that the cost of replacing these filter system is about £800 + vat.. Now they also told me this is a very common fault due to driving he car on regular short journeys and these 1.6hdi engines are notoriouse for this error, choices, 1, run car at high revs for ten minutes to burn off the carbon in the filter, 2, run the car at a constant 40-60 miles on the motor way for 30-60 miles, 3, replace fluids in the Wet Filter, hidden under the back rear quarter panel only accessed from under the car, 4, have the filter cleaned at Peugeot £60. 5, best option sell the car and get a ford...

Gazza328, April 2013
DE pollution fault can be temporarily fixed by removing the positive battery lead for few minutes putting back this resets the ecu. If it comes back on again then check MAF ( mass air flow meter near the air filter the connection may be faulty or you may need a new one its its faulty.

Indian Maan, April 2013
i have a peugeot 407 and the engine light wan permanently on with the depollution faulty system message appeared. I did a lot of test and finally i decided to change the oxygen / lambda sensor found near the catalyc filter. after a few start, the message disappeared. This sensor need to be changed every 120000kms.

faiz, April 2013
I booked my car into Peugeot next week they are charging £144.00 +vat to run it through their diagnostic machine. Did anyone else pay this fee?

Claire, April 2013
I bought a new Peugeot 207 Hdi from Motorpoint (reg 59). The 'depolution system faulty' light came on for the first time Jan 2013. The car was in need of a service which I thought might rectify the problem. Unfortunately the light has continued to come on intermittently and the car I feel is losing power. I shall book it in with Peugeot ASAP. The car is still covered by an extended Motorpoint warrantyI took out. It will be interesting to see if this can be fixed or in fact will be covered under the warranty. I shall keep you posted.

Claire, April 2013
Same message "depolution system faulty' I filled it with expensive Esso fuel and got my foot down on the motorway for half an hour the light was still on when I arrived home but in the morning when I tried my car again it was fine.. For a couple months.. Another occasion I was driving home from work on the motor way last night when the car lost power the message came back on I had my foot flat to the floor but it would only go 50mph/70downhill! And when I got to the slip road and slowed down the battery sign came on and it cut out 207cc 1.6 petrol 07plate

Had problems on 07 207Cc done 26000. Garage today finally diagnosed replacement high pressure fuel pump £600. Will get done and sell

Snow White no dwarf, March 2013
207 gt turbo...2007...cleaned the bottom oxygen sensor with brakeline cleaner and it went off after a day by itself. cost me nothing. a new sensor would have cost me about 200 brittish pound

felix ...south africa, February 2013
Same problem on my 57 plate Peugoet 207cc. Depollution system failure light first came on in November 2012 and a local garage ran it through a diagnostics machine to no avail, cleared the fault and had no problems until last week. Massive loss of power, kangaroo jumping and warning light back on. Garage did the same, cleared the fault last week and sent me on my way but today it's come back on. Can't afford to spend hundreds of pounds like lots of other people have and simply at a loss now. Reported to watchdog just now after reading this post but under no illusion that anything will be done. I would encourage others to report it to watchdog too in the hope that they listen, strength in numbers!

Elaine, February 2013
My pug has this problem depollution sensor fault been in garage a week no luck its about time pug dealers took responsability for this ongoing problem my advice never buy one .. (2004 pug 407 )

Paul martin, January 2013
Peugeot 207 gti THP175. I got it remapped by superchips and then a month later I got depollution system faulty message. I changed all the spark plugs and coil packs and it instantly fixed the problem. Its easy to do and if you search you can find a discount peugeot supplier

Brad, January 2013
I may be able to help some who has de pollution system faulty, Engine light comes on. I had same problem which said few things to change but sorted out without any needed parts. To sort this problem please call me I may be able to sort out on the phone. 07881 566 493

Indian Maan, December 2012
My car's electrics are completely screwed with all the cars electrics switching on and off continually. If i don't use the electrics i.e full beam, windows, vent syste etc, the electrics do stay on a little longer and eventually they're ok after approx 30 min of driving. Sometime's my car won't start. Other times my car won't turn off, even when the keys are out of the ignition! I get all kinds of messages on my dash, i think i've had them all, But the one that seems to stick is the deopollution system is faulty. My local garage couldnt find the fault (lose wire, earth connection) so i took it to my local peugeot dealer who said it's a fault BSI unit and will cost £420 fitted! Not happy :'(

Angry Driver, December 2012
my 07 207 gti had the rattle and power loss and peugeot fitted new timing chain and tensioner and its been sweet ever since. what it is is the first run of tensioners are oil fed or something and when you start up it takes time for the oil to put pressure on the tensioner and overtime this stretches the chain causing misfires and fault codes. the new tensioner has a little spring on it so its constantly under tension when you start up the engine. I had this done 6months ago and its been fine ever since. Peugeot do honour fitting the parts for free if the car was registered before june 07 i think. this problem also caused my fuel pump to break and lambda sensor to burn out. this all got fitted for free as i had a warranty. as i say the car is amaze balls now. hope this helps people as i was scratching my head for weeks.

ads-r6, November 2012
On C4 HDI depollution system faulty is cured by changing air filter with Citroen part. MANN have a filter but this does not fix the problem. Light does not go off immediately. Needs some open road driving and only disappears with re-start.

Willem, November 2012
2.0L 2006 pug in singapore, same error came on today only. will try additives by reading from the tread here

rexwrx, October 2012
i have the same problem, i have been told that every time you fill up the depollution fluid is mixed with the diesel however if your tan runs down to the red your light comes on. when my tank is 1/4 or more full the light stays off it may mean your system needs to be filled or topped up.

mick cummins, October 2012
anti pollution fault requires new coil pack and new spark plugs, replace both together for about £140 in a garage this will solve it, not new exausts or other things as the dealers try to rip us off. worked perfect on my 206sw back to normal now

I'm also joining the queue with the depollution system faulty on my Peugeot 307 hdi sport. This has happened to my car at least 4 times now in the past 8 months however it does clear itself but today actually frightened me. I was in town driving and just after coming up a hill onto a main road, next minute the car cut out, power was gone. I tried turning on car but everytime I tried to start the car to drive off it cut out on me. I parked my car on road then went back a few hours later after work and it started and I was able to drive it further. I drove it 25 miles on 40-60mph to try clear it but the light is still on but I'm hoping it will clear again soon but I'm losing heart in the car now. Someone suggested driving the car on a 60mph road to see if it clears which it has done several times before but I think after 4 times of this happening I'm going to take to a garage. So, the suggestions from message boards is either cheap diesel, replace filter, catalytic convertor. Has peugeot or anyone else been told exactly what the solution/diagnosis of this problem now as people are complaining of this problem since 2008?!? Thanks.

Jo, August 2012
I know this thread has not been active since 2008, but here's hoping...

This is all adding to my frustration with my 07 307cc. This waring came up last week, took it to local Peugeot dealer, they changed the sensors and the 'glow plug relay'??? under warranty. Took the car home onkly to find the same problem it went in with, recurring... Phoned Peugeot and they told me the 'glow plugs' need replacing????????????

On my way over there now to 'vent my spleen'!!!

scooby555, July 2012
My 2008 207 GTI THP 175 has 27000 miles and has started showing signs of the "death rattle" when starting the engine. No depollution system fault or power loss yet.

When I was looking at another 207 GTI THP 175 (2007 plate) It had work done under a Peugeot good will gesture which replaced the drive chain and tensioners plus some other bits which totalled nearly £1000. The document I looked at gave a full report/diagnostic of the car and was dated January 2012. This meant the car was out of warranty but Peugeot still honoured it!

Anyone else tried this?

As soon as my car develops more regular symptoms I will go straight to my local Peugeot dealership and demand they fix it!

Tom, June 2012
It could be the timing chain tensioner gone, my de pollution system light faulty kept coming on also sounding really rattly and miss firing and loss of power sometimes when driving along, took it to one garage never could find anything, took it to another garage the other day and they said they were 99.9% sure it was that, took it to peugeot they listened to it said yeah def the timing chain tenisoner gone, so its going in on Thursday to be done. I was also advised by the garage that this part should not of gone of car my age and miles 2007 plate 43,000 miles but it has.

Michelle, June 2012
I have the depollution system fault (Citroen c4 diesel) put a shot of Redex into the tank and the fault goes, not a cure but got rid of the fault! and the fuel consumption has increased by 5 mpg? i have used 4 tanks of fuel without issue then didnt put Redex in the last fill up fault returned. Redex every time now.

S Thomas, June 2012
I had this depolution system faulty for nearly six months, went to pug dealers; they did not have a clue, someone suggested to me Albyn Motors in SE8, went there and was charged £30 for the original pug diagnostic, explain to me everything for nearly 45mn as we went through the faults, additive tank was full, there was a problem with the tank cause it was hit by a hump, i got a second hand one from Ebay for £50 as the pug trying to charge me £175 + vat, he changed it for me & the light disappeared, after a week, the car won`t start when it is hot, I have to wait for nearly 40mn before it starts again, it is a pain, I took it back we changed the fuel filter but it appears that it has lot of air in the fuel pipes, he suggested to me to buy a fuel filter housing and I am looking for one now. I will let you if it did sort out the French Puggy problem. I will sell it after and I will never touch French Cars.

Youssef, May 2012
I posted back in October about this error. I have now learnt what this alert actually means. It's a generic fault code. It comes up when the car has been put in safe mode the only way to find out what the fault means is to 1. Call out your breakdown recovery who will plug in a computer and get the fault codes. It's the fault codes that tell you what's wrong, or go to someone who has a diagnostics machine

Glen Bint, May 2012
depollution problem. The car starts, but when i put my foot on accelerator, car goes dead. Please help. As soon as i get it fixed. Im selling it,coz im sick and tired of the problems that i went thru and popping out money everytime i go to citroen. No more citroen for me. Im fed-up!!! Please dont tell me to take the car to citron again.

depollution system faulty on a 207 on a 57reg

Nick, April 2012
Hello Martin, how much did you spend on cam work? you still got the light ON and you still got the problem !!!! YOUR CAR WILL SOON RUN GUTLESS AGAIN - did you not read the threads !!!!!!!!!! its just a dirty sensor in your cat / exhaust which requires cleaning - you go right ahead and spend more money at the clueless peugeot dealers - theres no helpIng some people.

NASHER, April 2012
hi all got the same problem on 207cc 57 plate 37kmiles was told by the main dealers common fault the timing belt slips a tooth and car become gutless after having all cam work done car performs ok but light stil on had it taken off after 2 days back on again does anyone know the real reason for this stupid error?

martin, April 2012
my car went into peugeot with an ABS light and came out with a replaced brake switch for the problem BUT with a new problem depollution light on when i collected it. Garage said nothing to do with what they have done...can anyone help...could they have done something to it?

clarkey, April 2012
thank you phil (re: thread feb 12) tried the cataclean as you recommended disconected batt and hey presto light gone car running fantastic and got rid of the very tempramental bleeping unreliable car !!!! -well rid of it ! - cant thank you enough phil - so all you depollution sufferers try cataclean first (ebay £12.50) before taking it to an unsympathetic peugeot dealer who will rip you off for hundreds ££££££ if not thousands !!! good luck

NASHER, March 2012
I just replaced my vacume pump on my pug 807, put it all back together and started it up. The car threw up the fault 'depollution etc.' I had forgotten to plug in the sensor on the air box; hence the fuel air mixture causing the problem. So I would say it is deffinatly something to do with the air/fuel mixtures.

Silverdoller, March 2012
its not a fuel pump problem, the depollution system is simply a filter just off the exhaust system in order to filter the ommisions, generally all it requires is a cleaning as it gets clogged with gasess

gerry,, 407 owner, March 2012
Hello,

I own a 207 RC, I had the same problem: Depolution System Faulty warning and the car nearly mooved. Peugeot fixed it by changing the fuel pump. Please note that this warning is very general and it can mean many things so there is no one single problem for this problem.

Andy Rc, March 2012
yesterday I had the same issue on my 08 207cc GT bought from garage 4 months ago! I have been told its the oxygen sensor

sjf, February 2012
Hi i have a pug 207 xs sport 150thp and the problem could be from PCV i have done a mod and car performance is slowly getting a lot better.

steve, February 2012
i,ve had same problem add a product called catclean to about 15lts of fuel and give agood 20 min blast to converter

phil, February 2012
the dreaded depollution fault ....... yep ive got it, it seems a common fault but pug dealers dont appear to have a clue !!!! why is this? I will never ever buy a peugeot again I have a sporty looking GTi that will get left standing by a mod on a scooter - I will discourage all I come into contact with never to buy one - im not going to down the silly very expensive (USELESS) dealership route and when I solve this issue I will get shot of this annoying crap car - one thing after another.

Nasher, January 2012
my wife has a 57 plate 207 gti 175 and its pants right now, depollution fault has come up and the power well it seems they forgot about that. been in garage had oil change, pencil coil, and boost pipe replaced, i pulled out the garage and put my foot down and as i got to 40 mph someone took the power away again.... so they fixed it for about 35 seconds.. dose anyone now what the main reason for this is or everyone just second guessing

polluter, November 2011
The first time this happened with my 307 HDi a new fuel filter seemed to fix it, but several months later it came on again. A few days after an expensive service in May (over $700) the depollution system faulty light came on again, so I took it in to say that I wanted it looked at ... they told me at the Peugeot dealership that the car stopped working completely for them, so $3000 and a new computer later (after sitting in the workshop for a month)...... I still have the problem - almost constantly! I lose power; and occasionally stall... very frustrating.
Certainly won't buy another Peugeot.

Lesley, November 2011
Got the same error on my 207 SE 57 plate.

Been told Car requires new cat manifold and engine temp sensor, total inc diagnostic £1028.62

not getting a Peugeot again, July 2011
Depollution system faulty for Peugeot 407 1.6 HDI?
The 2 common main causes are,
1, TURBO SENSOR (according to the Peugeot dealer)
2, FUEL FILTER (from my experience)
I went on a 50 mile round trip mainly on the motorway, my light came on, stayed for 2 days and went off. I changed the fuel filter went on a 100 mile motorway run and the light did not return, coincidence? Maybe!!! But it’s still off to date.
I suggest you change the fuel filter first for around £20 from Ebay to £45 from the dealer. The fuel filter on the 407 hdi 1.6 has a sensor fitted with 2 wires, although this is not part of the main fuel filter housing, it does clip into place on the side of the fuel filter and senses the fuel flow through the fuel pipe. Although Peugeot Dealers do not exactly know what is causing the fault, they guess, change a component, reset the ‘k’ light, charge you, and then send you away.
The light can stay out for up to around 10,000 miles but it can also return, back you go to Peugeot, and they then find something else, and so it continues. At this point when they say what they think it is this time; ask for a refund for the wrong part fitted the first time.

andy, June 2011
i have a peugeot 807/205 zenith hdi auto 30.000 mile from new and the depolution light is on and then off the tossers at peugeot in jersey say it will cost me between £650/ £2.500 to fix but the light does go out and there is no loss of power and they say save money and drive it with light on i am not happy i have had many peugeot and this is the first time i am not happy

tim freemantle, June 2011
Hello Everybody , Depollution problems is your injectors or pipe leading to it . I had exactly thesame problems ,running jumpy and lost power. Local dealers are very expensive ,cost is £650

Ibo, June 2011
This has happened on my 2.5yr old 207cc. "depollution system faulty" and the engine light has come on. I have taken it to the dealership and was originally told I had to pay £79 to have the car inspected and diagnosed. RIDICULOUS. I was told this was a common problem so surely if the car is within it's warranty and it's a common problem why should I have to pay the £79??? I argued this and eventually got told I could have it for free. Argue the point.

blue ray 22, May 2011
i have a 407 replaced half a dozen sensors and wire harnesses but the fault still in spoke to pegeout head office told me its not there problem as my car is 5 years old then put the phone down on me.

not happy, April 2011
I've had my 207 CC for 2 years now and the problem seems to be there 80/5 of the time. It's been in the garage and Peugeot claimed to have fixed it but clearly they haven't. Funny thing though is that the problem seems to resolve itself when I have the AC on.... I've also noticed lots of issues on carrying out a Google search on this, which leads me to ask, if this is such a common problem, why have Peugeot not sorted it??

Stef, April 2011
For 207 Gt/ GTi you need to have the special tool fitted to check the cam /crank timing. Mine was out for 18 months and took 3 dealers till my claims were finally acknowledged. Timing was out! Once this was accepted Peugeot Aust was fantastic. I had a new head fitted as they weren't happy with the valve wear as well as the significant carbonisation of the head. Depollution faults, O2 sensor, HP fuel pump, limp mode you name it I had it!! Now a new head / tensioner and timing chain fitted I have had no problems for 12 months!! touch wood..
Timing is everything!

Russell, April 2011
Ive got a 207 GTi- 23000 miles on the clock- it has been running perfect until recently when this depollution fault and engine warning light came on. When I started the car up in the morning- the revs would stutter- randomly increasing and engine misfiring until after a few minutes it would eventually calm down and settle. Sometimes though the ECU would cut the power and it would be seriously slow and quite scary driving to work when there is no power present!! However after work I could start the car again and although the revs would stutter a bit again- the power will have returned and the car will drive okay but the warning lights would still be present.

Anyway Peugeot recommended changing the spark plugs and the coil pack on 2nd cylinder that was misfiring. However becuase a lot of the parts in this engine are BMW- BMW recommend you change all 4 coil packs rather than just one. To save money I just changed the one- car was running fine until same faults came up again- therefore had all 4 coil packs changed. Car was running fine again for few days then surprise surprise the faults came back again. The car is now in the peugeot garage and ive just had a call saying a fault came up regarding the fuel pump and the engine needs to be stripped down to check it (this alone is costing £140 and then I might need a new one if there is a fault!! Reading previous posts the problem with the fuel pump seems to be a issue that a few people have experienced already!) Also the valve timing may need to be checked so im waiting for an other call to see what the damage is! Im expecting a hefty bill but im hoping this will fix the problems and this will be the end of it because I seriously love this car and dont want to have to sell it!

K Mc, March 2011
I had this same problem, same message, loss of power, everything. Car is in the shop now. This is not the first time my 307 has been in the shop for other problems, this 'car' has cost me more on reparis than any other auto I have previously owned.
My answer to this question is. SELL THE CAR! Odds are this is not the last problem you will see in the coming 4-6 months.
Unless you want to spend all your savings on repairs, get out while you can... will never buy Peugot again!

Dóri, March 2011
why is this happening, is my care safe to drive

jooo, March 2011
i drive now and again a 207 Platinum (150 bhp Turbo) its been in the workshop with problems about the Depollution system 5 times ..have had a new fuel pump fitted ..the new modificated head gasket fitted twice..and now i need a new motor . Lucky for me i still have warranty . why is it that Peugeot have this problem and not BMW or Mini when its the same engine ..i informed my workshop and told him that BMW have modified the chain ..so he is bying this part to see what they have done and inform Peugeot here in Germany. never will i buy a Peugeot again ...might go back to driving Opel

Robert moore, February 2011
I had the same problem with my 2008 207RC. Dealers' advice to replace the whole turbo assy. sadly I already run out of warranty and will cost me more or less about £1500.00.

Marc, February 2011
have had no end of problems with 307 hdi de pollution fault have cured our fault by removing dpf from exhaust blowing clean with compressed air (140) psi and tapping with a rubber hammer between untill no black dust and particles come out of dpf, you can also remove and clean tempreture probe in exhaust with 14mm spanner, to get dpf out remove two pipes from exhaust pressure sensor, remove all 10mm bolts from exhaust front aluminium guard this will allow you to get to the 15mm band clamp that hold the dpf, undo exhaust system clamp and pull dpf out but WEAR A GOOD MASK TO BLOW OUT DPF then take for a drive at 3000rpm and should get rid of your fault code

chris, February 2011
We have just had our head gasket replaced on a 55 plate 407 2.2 petrol, this is just another thing that has gone wrong on our pug and now the depollution system light has come on. We have driven it despite the warning light and all levels temperatures seem to be ok. I haven't even owned the car for 2 years and it has cost me nearly £2500 on repairs from ball joints to a front suspension rebuild, new clutch and fly wheel, faulty parking sensors, and the electrics have gone on the drivers side. I cant afford to get this fixed aswell so will try the aditives and let you know how I get on. I have contacted pugeot direct but they aren't interested at all. Just when you think you have practically rebuilt the car something else - always expensive breaks. Never ever will I buy a pugeot again. Im stuck in that situation that I have spent to much on the heap that I cant afford to buy anything else and would hate to sell it to someone else for them to get more problems. Here's hoping somebody might steal it!!!

Fiona Davidson, January 2011
same problem as all of you.depollution system faulty warning came up today. don't like what i'm reading on here. not much hope of fixing it permanently. ours is a 307 sw s petrol 2006.everyone is paying a fortune to have it fixed and then paying more again cos it is still not right. was going to take it ti local dealer but shan't bother now!!!

cowgirl, January 2011
seems different reasons for this . My 2009 207 1.4 diesel with 16K on clock gets depolution warning, low oil pressure warning and then total loss of power within a few seconds. - so have to park up fast. Restarting engine its then ok for a few weeks. Garrage upgraded software yesterday but car cut out on a roundabout today... so back again .

Matt, January 2011
Hi, brought my pug 207 07 turbo GTI a couple of weeks ago from a garage. On the test drive I was surprised at the acceleration as it seemed like an automatic changing gear when you put your foot to the floor and the turbo kicked in. Four days later I was cruising at 50 pulled out to try and over take a lorry on a duel carriageway and there was nothing more, had to abort the manoeuvre as overtaking would have taken about 5 mins to bring up to speed. The next time I started the car I got this dreaded Depollution warning. The car hasn't cut out at all but I can almost see the petrol gage going down when I'm driving now. I think my turbo isn't working but as I've never driven a turbo car before, other than my earlier experiences with this one, so I'm not sure what it should feel or sound like under normal road driving. I took it to a mate of mine who has an ordinary garage saying it has to go to peugeot to be wired up and tested, but to my surprise he said ... 'no I can check it for you.' He whipped off the gear box cover plugged in some wires from a hand held unit and within seconds had a fault number. He asked if I wanted the warning removed as he could do that as well but I declined as I have a three months full warranty from the sale. He checked the number (2191) on the internet and literally within a minute he had diagnosed it as an air/fuel mix problem. Now if he can do this in a matter of minutes why the hell does it take a peugeot main dealer between 3 and 6 days to work out the same thing on other cars I''ve read about on this forum and others. I'm now going into the third week of my three month warranty and with snow and Christmas I can't see anything much done before the new year. But done it will be, and armed with my pages of unsatisfied customer reactions on forums like this, ... someone will be paying....but not me!!

Robp27, December 2010
for all those with lack of power, you timing has slipped and you need modified timing parts, ie new tensioner, guides maybe new chain if it has stretched, this is very coomon fault and pug know about it.

Timing must be checked with the timing tool, to do this the engine cover must be removed. They will not do this under warrenty unless you shout and scream about it.

Most GT/GTi will suffer this problem and it needs doing to all cars really, cost a bit but should be worth it in the end...

raverdave, December 2010
I have a 57 Plate 207 GT, two days after warranty expires depollution fault is appearing, we have played about with fuses etc but still appearing, the thing is it's on peugeot passport scheme so they are collecting in a few days and I don't want to end up with them sending me a huge bill....any other ideas on what the fault is?

Ellie King, December 2010
Had this message a few times, car broke down last week and dealer fitted new sensor, coil and plugs. Collected Monday and depolution message together with poor running today. Looks like its a waste of time bothering to do anything else.

I drive an '05 407 2.2 in Singapore and faced the Depollution Warning fault after i got the car 2nd-hand for a few months. I used an engine and fuel-injection cleaning additive (from STP), for several months, and the warning fault has gone away for a few months now. Good luck!

Mine has just had a new clyinderhead ok for moment i will wait and see if it lasts

trevor, November 2010
Solution, car, wall bang insurance. Uless you want months of arguing about the very expensive bill that peugeot wont take care of!

Hi, greetings from Singapore.
I drive a 407 2.0L. The De Pollution Faulty light came on after 85000miles (136km).
Tried high octane fuel, no effect but when I tried Caltex with Techron, my engine is smoother but the light did not go off.
Some say the cylinder head is dirty with carbon built up some said the EGR etc.
Has anyone got a different solution but it got fixeD?

Desmond, October 2010
I found this on Peugeot website so anyone having a problem and Peugeot say we dont have a idea say rubbuish its on your forums http://www.peugeotcentral.co.uk/ftopic-2035.html
Well the root cause of my 'depollution system faulty' warning message was the oxygen sensor(s) were needing replaced and that seems to have sorted the problem. The downside was it took the garage almost 6 hours to work this out!

Garage didn't tell me too much about what that meant, so had to look it up on internet when I got home.

So for the less technically minded (like me) who may experience this problem with their car, these sensors are connected to your exhaust and gauge whether the mixture of fuel and air reaching the engine is correct. Can affect the performance of your car although may not necessarily result in a breakdown (for a while at least) if you don't get it fixed right away.

Peugeot have fitted the tapping noise at last, This was fixed by The dealer forcing the tech to take the car wheels off and discs and finding that the clip on the driveshaft retainer was loose now no noise

Glen Bint, October 2010
if anyone needs some help with this then please drop me a txt at 07500556977 i will gladly help you as i have had nothing but issue with my 207 GTI as i only bought it a year ago from new. I have had the pollution issue. i have now got a tapping sound under the car. which is being sorted today. Just had call as i typing that its now fixed they have tighted up under the car. i have put a compalin in at head office. Also i have sent a complaint to Watchdog which i must insist everyone does. So we can make sure Peugeot fit correct Fuel Pump from factory in France

Glen Bint, October 2010
Hi all

I had the same issue on my GTI the 2009 model, this was fixed by Replacing the Fuel pump. I also had a new supension, ECU and software upgrade on the car. Now this performs better than what peugeot say it should do. Peugeot had to get some one over from france to figure out what the problem was in the end and this has now been fixed by Fule Pump change, The fault comes about when the fuel that is passed through the engine is running to rich. so the car thinks it shouldnt pass it through hence loss in power

I have a 207 GT 56 reg have had this problem for ages keeps coming and going do anyone know what the real answer to this problem is? Is it worth contacting bmw instead as ive been told its the same engine as the mini cooper s. I am completely fed up now as the car looks sporty but its so slow, i would never buy a peugoet again. Have anyone thought about getting everyone writing to watchdog as it seems to be a common fault, would like to hear some feed back on this.

07 plate 207 with 27000 miles. Depollution System Faulty error message appeared today but no loss of power. Drove 100 miles home with this fault but it has not cleared itself. From all the other posts it looks like I'm in for problems

Graham, September 2010
I have a 207 1.6 hdi sport I get this fault every now and then. I fix it by opening the fuse box under the bonnet, pressing down all the fuses, blowing on them all to get rid of dust, jiggling wires and then once i've put the lid back on and slam the bonnet down she's as good as new. Peugeot Electrics briliant!!!

Bradders, September 2010
is the car still safe to drive until i get it looked at on monday

emma, July 2010

Paul Ricketts, May 2010
i have had this problem since 2007, i have a 207 gh thp (turbo) and it have been to the main dealer over 30 times, a friend who works at BMW explaind why we get this problem, it is due to a design fauld on the timing chain system and BMW have a modifed part that Peugout do not use i had the BMW parts fitted and my car has done over 60000 miles no problem untill today when it has happend again. the vehical is out of warrenty due to milage and Peugout's response was TUFF LUCK so i have to pay for the repairs.

PS.. i would never buy another Peugout after the way i have been treated!!

Paul Ricketts, May 2010
my 207 , mod 2009 have the same problem DE pollution system faulty & it goes by putting the high octane example if u put 92 put 95 and put octane booster and fuel injectors if it continued try to change your battery

saleh, May 2010
have same prob with my 207, im now giving up....

Me, May 2010
I drive a 307cc 07... every person who drives the same car has the same issue with this fault, you lose power if the car is stationary for more than a few mins... you have to pull over... turn the engine off.. turn the key so the lights come on the dashboard, wait 30 seconds, then start it up... it will come on again but the next time you turn off and on.. you wont get that message.. nothing worse when you hear the bleep... as ultimately it just costs you money... in my opinion.. you will start getting more issues with the car after the fault..as this has now started happening with me

Paul, May 2010
My 57 reg 207 GTi has jus got the same problem, only 22000 on the clock, really dont no wot 2 do as its an export from the uk to germany

Danny, April 2010
I've had a lack of power four times now with my gti. The garage have it for weeks on end and they manage to repair it but it soon goes again. Peugeot have told me that when the warranty ends i'm on my own.

Lee P, March 2010
my 207 gti has been back to the garage over a dozen times due to loss of power. dont think they have a clue whats up with it. not seen the car for 3 weeks now as its in again

lee p, March 2010
I Have a 207 gti thp 175 . 59 plate and the very same thing has just happned to me , i am not happy as any falt with the engine turns the high preasure turbo off and reduses revs there for redusing the bhp from 175 to around 70 . I will write to peugeot HQ as i did not spend £20,000 on a car the performs like a snale.

JAMES, February 2010
I have this on my 56 Reg Petrol GT 207 Also

Only 22,000 Miles on da clock and before that it was needing a new ABS unit and

Adam, January 2010
This happened to my 207cc yesterday. My car kept cutting out everytime I slowed down at a junction and then the error message apeared. I have it booked in this week for a check. If it becomes an issue I will also be writing to peugeot as car only has 6 months left on the warranty and don't want to be paying out for this!!

S Marten, December 2009
207 GT/ GTI DEPOLUTION FAULT ,YOUR CAR WILL REQUIRE SPARK PLUGS , COILS , MODIFICATION TO TIMING PULLY CHAIN BOLTS DUE TO STREACHING , MAYBE A TURBO IF OIL IS PASSING THREW INTAKE PIPES.

STEWART, September 2009
This problem happened with my 207 RC today for the first time. I was worried from losing the power of my car. I contacted the dealer immediately and I understood that this problem is common and so many costumers complained from it, it must be solved itself by driving with 60 Km\h for 5 min. But the system will still show this error until you remove it from the software. as he said it may need around 2 days to fix it.

OT, March 2009
I drive a Peugout 407 2.2 sport; had this problem from new; however it was coming and going' now that my vehicle is out of warranty my local dealer ignore my complaints and wants an arm and a leg for various sensros and filters, i have googled this error and found 2750 forum sites reporting this issue. all i want to do is to get rid of my vehicle.

DCH, February 2009
My (2007) 207 GT is going in for the fith time next week for faulty de-polltion system and power loss

CH, January 2009
I have the same problem with my 307CC 2005 model seems to be a common problem within the 07 range but Peugeot don't seem to want to accept this. I've been on quite a few forums and a lot of people are having this problem people need to complain to Peugeot have been told by my local garage that my Exhaust pressure sensors need replacing cost £405 not happy at all and this may not fix it. I'm going to be writing to Peugeot HO in coventry about this more people that do the more chance we have of them accepting that there is an issue with this.

S Wood, December 2008
My 07 207 GT has been in six times and still is not fixed. Good luck
