Renault Laguna heater fan. 2000model?

The fan has suddenly stopped working on speeds 1 2 3 but is ok on 4 which is very noisy. If it is a module or a resister how can I locate it.

sorry, one more thing...in order to do this you will need to remove the glove box to gain access to the speed regulator which is directly behind the glove box to the right slightly..

I had this problem on my laguna 97 model. The fan siezed because the brushes on the motor are worn excessivly and either the motor or the brushes need replaced, try second hand, as this is a bit pricey from renault.
The regulator speed control is located to the right of the motor where the wires from the fan goto.It is encased in a black plastic unit and is approx 4 inches in diameter and is round. To remove this just give it a twist anti clockwise and it will lift off to remove.
The resistors are very basic wire wound coils and are non replaceable, but you wont need to as the thermal fuse mounted just beneath them will blow first. You will know if this has blown as only the maximum speed on the control will work.
I removed this thermal fuse and bridged it with some solder, then reconnected the fan with an inline fuse much like you would see on a car stereo. You may need to experiment with the vaules of the fuse, starting with a 1 amp up to a 5 depending on the use of the fan.A 3 amp suffices in my car and ive had no problems with it since doing this.

I had the same problem, the heater fan had seized up. it then overheated the wires to it and all had to be replaced, wires, regulator and fan
