Check list from my 1993-1999 Modeo w/shop manual under misfire through driving speeds.
Fuel filter choked: requires cleaning.
Fuel pump faulty or delivery pressure low.
Fuel tank vent blocked or feed pipe restricted.
Vacuum leak at the inlet manifold or associated hoses
Worn faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs
Faulty spark plug HT lead. change all if so.***SEE BELOW
Faulty ignition coil.
Uneven or low cylinder compressions [many miles on clock]
Blocked injector/fuel injection system fault.
***Get a HT lead spark tester from an auto shop and set of plugs if they haven't been replaced in a long time. Taking each lead one at a time remove the lead from the plug put the tester in the end of the lead and back on the plug start up and rev up engine take note of the spark in the tester window. do this for each plug you should see on reving the offending plug or lead. if it's the lead some sell seperate leads but my advice is buy the set. Done changing it/them then take it for a drive and see how it performs. If the same then I'm afraid carry on testing electrics. Then on to other sections mentioned above.
I can only explain how I did my Mondeo ignition circuit test and renewal so more info??? then e-mail robertwhiting76@hotmail.com and I'll try
