This machine has had new brushes(old at end of life),new pump(diapram torn by wire from wash),new heater(old over heated)now it behaves all through wash and rinse cycles but wont spin at end of programme but spins when spin selected on timer switch.(is it beyond redemption..)

Just had the same fault on my se220. John is correct, I removed the circuit board next to the motor and found it had a "dry" joint on the circuit board on the output from one of the black relays, I traced the track with the joint and found it was marked up as ROT1 (rotation 1). A quick re-solder and machine is now back in service. Hope this helps, good luck
