berlingo 2.0 HDI van fuel system?

I have air in the fuel system and the van cuts out when running at speed. I can see lots of air coming in through the fuel pipes to the filter. I have replaced all the pipes up to the tank from the filter, bulb primer and all, could it be a problem inside the tank?
HELP!!!!!

same problem with my dads berlingo 1.9d,its the fuel pick up in tank the filter gauze which is part of gauge sender unit, had a slimmy goo over it ,cleaning it out would sort it though we replaced it now it has much more power and problem sorted.

I have a similar problem on my 1.9 diesel multispace. It cuts out when fuel guage reads a quarter full. Have pumped out three gallons of diesel all of which have air in the pipe.

Sounds very like the high pressure pump in the tank steve these are known for failure and sorry to say are costly about £300 fitted if my memory serves me right you will know for sure if you take out the fuel filter the sediment chamber atthe bottom of the filter housing will have copper or silver coloured metal shavings in it
