175 error code on boot?

my ibm thinkpad 600 used to work fine, now all of a sudden on startup, only 175 appears and wont do anything else?

That is an EEPROM failure. (Part of the System Board)

Go to www.lenovo.com and download the Hardware Maintenance Manual then work your way through the diagnostics in it.

If the diags say replace System board then I'd scrap the box as TP600s are out of the ark and not worth repairing.
