Lawn mower?

Just purchased a scag mower with the Briggs & Stratton 26H.P. ELS engine - soon after getting it home I discovered that both the choke and throttle control cables (at the engine) were loose in the brackets that hold them in place - this prevented either to operate properly. I secured both cables in there bracket so that they both produced full range of motion on the mechanism that they are attached to. Then I read where any adjustments to the throttle or choke controls should be done by the dealer. I didn't change anything; only gave them full range of motion - is this ok or should I go back to the dealer?
