also check your ind wire is not shorted to earth as this would put light on.no fault with alternator,

First check that the drive belt has the correct tension or that it hasn't fallen off, if they are ok then a voltage check will prove if the alternator is duff it should be giving out 14~14.4v with all electrical loads on ie headlight heated rear window if it's below this you need a new alternator
