Accenta - no power lights on keypad?

My Accenta alarm system has been great for 10 years. We had a power cut last week for approx 6 hours and since then the keypad has no power light on. The keys are still lit up. When I switch it off at the CU (to stop the blue light flashing...), the keypad also goes dead and the red / green on the bell box hav also now stopped. My husband has suggested that the battery may need replacing (he is thousands of miles away in the Falklands!)- is he right?
Thanks in advance for your help...

You will almost certainly need a new back up battery in your control panel.Minimum 2.1Kwh at a cost of around £15 plus call out from an engineer unless you can change it yourself or get a competent person to do it for you.
It's quite simple to change. For safety you must first switch off mains power to the control panel, open the control panel by unscrewing the screw and remove the back up battery by pulling the black terminal spade connector from the battery first, then red.Fit the new battery, making sure you push the red terminal spade connector on first, then black.A full alarm should then sound. Then close the control panel, tighten the screw, and apply the mains power to it.Input your alarm code and press reset.
All should be ok.
