I have a 10+year old John Deere model STX38. I was mowing and put into neutral and disengaged blade to move my hammock. When I got back on and engaged blade or put into gear it dies. Any ideas as to what this could be. It starts every
time in neutral, but dies when engaging any gears or the blade.

check/replace seat safety switch, or disconnect and jumper wires that go to switch.
