I have an old 'Straight & Zig-Zag only' Bernina 827. It normally sews beautifully, but today it has stopped zig-zagging. It just sews straight when set at zig-zag. The length of the stitch still changes when adjusted, but none of the 6 varieties of zig-zags work. I last used the zig-zag 3 days ago and it was working fine. The machine was my Mother-in-laws, so I don't have the manual - it didn't come with the machine. Please help.

Hello Ruth,
Is the needle moving side to side when you select zig zag and not picking up the thread one side causing the machine to do straight stitch, or when you select zig zag the needle does not move side to side, if this is the case it may be a simple case of oiling all moving parts, if the machine needle moves side to side but will not zig zag you may need to retime it, if you e-mail me I can attach timing instructions and sites for manuals.
