stuck gas hob of Diplomat APL1103 gas cooker?

one of the hobs is stuck.spring action is lost and the turnig 'axel' (on to which the knob fits) is really stuck.I wanted to loosen the nut and see but i was worried as I did not know where the gas input was, in case I needed to stop it.

Hi Foxy, many thanks. I returned to this site many times during the first couple of days and as there was no response I did not rerturn till today when I did accidentally.
I sprayed a bit of WD 40 let it stand for 5 mts and the shaft got loosened. Then I cleaned the area thoroughly and just lubricated the shaft with a drop of singer oil.
Started working beautifully.Advised my wife to keep this area nice and tidy. Almost 3 years on thing are excellent. Even my wife was pressurising me to call someone and get the whole control system replaced which I resisted knowing that the damage on my purse would be significant.
Many thanks any way

Hi Muta, if you turn the shaft, you can create a leak so please do not.The engineer will have to be called who is CORGI registered and replace the gas tap assy. All the best.
