How can I locate the fault on the wipers of my Rover 416?

I have a 1999 Rover 416 i, the intermittent wipers on the front windscreen have ceased to operate, although the constant wipe does work and the rear screen wipers have also ceased to work completely.
I don't have a circuit diagram or know where any components are situated

It turned out to be the 'Multifunction Control Unit', which is a small plastic box attatched to the rear of the fuse box located beneath the drivers dash.
