My TomTom Go 710 Keep Cutting off, why?

I have a TomTom Go 710 just over a year old, I connect it in to my car, and after few minutes keep cuts off and then comes back on it's own and sometimes it dies for about 10 minutes, and if I am travelling some where, that means to stop some where and wait for my MR. TomTom to comes back working again, can anyone give me advise on it please? Also the charger that connects to the pc, never been used, for 1st time connected today it isn't charging the TomTom? Thank you.

tried and very much tested. . . ! I found that if you put a strip or two of insulation tape on the front of your charger covering the two holes and where it says tom tom this should sort it out, did mine many many months ago, gets docked around 60 times a week, if it stops charging again . . . . Just replace the tape with a fresh bit.

Unfortunately this is a common problem on the 710; it has a mount that over time loses it power connection even though the green light stays on... you can sometimes fiddle with it by holding the power supply in just the right position, this should start it working again until movement brakes the connection but it’s not a fix. If it is less than 2 years old send it back.
also I dont think the USB to PC lead charges this model

My response may not be the answer to your problem but it's worth a try, as it could be the battery needs a full recharge.
Turn your Tom off and plug it into the 240V supply on charge for 'at least' 4 hours.
There is a very small reset hole in the back or side. Use a match stick and push the reset in for at least 20 sec's.
Hopefully, this should bring your Tom back to life!
