Main oven light always on (dimmed), when switched on blows cold air?

Hi

My main oven light just came on a few mornings ago when I switched it on. The light is dimmed and when I switch the main oven on, the light comes on as normal but the oven doesn't heat up (just blows cold air). The top oven still works.

Thanks

hi, thanks alot for your help. I have now solved the problem.

I opened the oven up from the inside and the element had become out of shape on one place and there was a small hole in it. I therefore opened up the back also and removed it and bought a new one. It is all working fine now.

if you have recently removed the fan guard for cleaning then that can have a microswitch which prevents the element coming on, ensure the guard screw are fully tightened.
the element may have blown, or the thermostat may be broken. thermostats have a capillary and bulb which if broken will fail safe, that is "in the off position". the dimmed bulb may point to faulty wiring it is hard to say without a circuit diagram, you could try removing and replacing the bulb to see if it is just a poor contact. isolate the appliance from the mains before doing any of the above checks.
