why is my peugeot 107 stereo broken?

I plugged a dc to mains inverter in to the lighter socket on the girlfriends car and the stereo stopped working. (im not in the good books). before i had a chance to check the fuse it started again on tryinng it but then stopped next time the engine was started.

The fuse is ok so i'm at a loss. Any ideas?

The cigarette lighter and stereo are often on the same fuse. The 107 has a maximum output on the cigarette lighter of 120W. P=VxI therefore I is 10A. 10A fuse which should be red. The fuses are behind the speedo trim. Two screws to remove, you will need to rotate the steering wheel to get at them.

Bad connection in power to stereo system - vibration makes it come and go. Fuses tend to behave differently - permanently good or permanently bad - purely a guess...

The DC to AC invertor would not / should not have any impact on the stereo (it just draws DC current) but messing around in the dash area may have moved a dodgy connection.
