Torque down the head and add K seal to fill the holes, ONLY DO THIS IF HEAD GASKET IS NOT TOO BAD. if your gasket is completely gone then get it replaced...£300-£400 all in to get a new one, apparently some sort of lotus HG works.

I have just had my gasket done
It has to be the same as the freelander which is a triple gasket.
Dont let the garage fit a single one
My job cost me £542 and that was without the head needing skimming

Rover 25 1.4

The problem is that that engine (K Series) is prone to blowing head gaskets. When an engine has blown a head gasket, it usually causes a lot of damage, wrecking the engine completely or weakening it so that it will blow head gaskets regularly in future.

The only thing that an owner can do is ensure that the coolant is always up to level as overheating can be a factor.

The only permanent action that an owner can take is to get rid of the car.
