my engine managment kight keeps on coming on ,and at the same time it loses power and jerks,then the power comes back but the light stays on what is causing this
I think you need to get your fault codes read to identify the problem. Otherwise you could spend money replacing parts unnecessarily. Could be a coil pack on the way out but daz71's comments are valid too.

The cause is a faulty sensor on the engine probably a faulty map sensor or a crankshaft sensor(both common on Vauxhalls) but to find out a diagnostic code reader needs to be plugged in to the car. The light stays on because a fault code is stored in the ecu(the cars brain).
