That was a good one. Mine wouldn't open by pressing the lever and giving it a jerk. It did open when I pulled the legs out and it's still standing. I forgot that's what I did long ago. That tells you how long it's been since I've had to use an ironing board, lol. Thanks.

Nobody here can actually see your broken ironing board but here's some rocket science...
Put it on a fable face down and extend the legs to the normal ironing position - it is now an upside down ironing board. Apply some pressure to the feet - have a friend help you if necessary and closely observe the mechanism moving - try to work out what is happening that shouldn't be happening or conversley - what is not happening that should be happening.
When you have worked it out you will be in a better position to fix it.
