Hi there any one know if this is a diy job or speacalist job.We have last occasion called someone to do this for us but boiler rather old now ,and also last time the chap came with a vacum cleaner and that was it , if any one can shed any light this would be most usefull. Hi,could someone tell me where is the burner filter?, I strip down my majorca regular and clean it but never seen the filter.

I've got two of these. Agree with Tony, the bolts on the hood can break off if not careful and the rope seal around the combustion chamber can fall to bits. Fire cement the ends of the burner when refitting as the seal is broken when dismantled and be careful with the filter gauze as the ends are sharp. No boiler should soot at all, if it is then there's not enough air for it and CO is being produced as well.

Combustion analyzers are useless on back boilers.What is needed is a good old fashioned strip down to the bone.The Majorca Twos are not easy to do as the top hood has to be taken off as all fluways need cleaning out.The main problem will be that the burner filter will be linted with fluff.This needs taking to pieces when the Guy comes to clean it.There are usually 6 bolts with nuts holding the top of the burner on.When this is parted the gauze filter will be caked with fluff.Make sure when refitting that the end caps are fire cemented to avoid flames coming out of the end of the burner.You must get these kind of boilers serviced at least every year to 18 mths.
