hi dannyboy, thank you for your answer. i have managed to do what you said and managed to put it back together ok. when the machine was empty it spun somewhat and managed to drain so i thought i had managed to solve the problem. but when the clothes were put back in it didn't manage to spin or drain again, do you think it may be the pump ? thanks again
depends on what the load is your trying to spin. this model has an out of balance detection system so if there is not enough in it or if its a single item the machine wont spin. bath mats tend to be the most problematic

more likely to be the motor brushes or the motor itself which is faulty.
