How can I fix my Epson DX8450 all-in-one printer?

So, I bought a second-hand printer and it doesn't work :(

When I turn on my epson DX8450 for the first time and select my language it tells me to "open the scanner unit and install cartridges"... so far so good.

I open the unit to see the cartridge holder moving slowly across the inside of the printer. However, it does not stop at the cartridge installation point but carries on to the far-right where it stops and makes a very loud noise at which point I am told:
"A printer error has occurred. Turn off the printer, then press on button to turn on. See your documentation"
... and that is all :(

Please please help!

my epson dx5050 has the same problem: the ink catridge holder moves all the way to the right, then a loud bad screeching noise for 5 seconds, then Error lights.

i dont think its a driver problem, as i have them installed, and because this 3in1 printer scanner also does this loud noise and error without the computer on.

anyone seen (or unfortunetly heard) this problem before?

assuming you have dx8450 that needs drivers...

you go to epson site:
click "Support"
type in dx8450
then select the printer...
then download the driver.. and I recommend the epson scan bit too...

you wil find that most companies use this format..

not to insult you.. but you have to click the spanner button on the printer, then celect change cartrige/ink and then it will present the carts to you for changing....
