Miter saw not cutting straight?

I have a Chicago 10" compound miter saw. When I am cutting a straight line it is fine, but when I cut a 45 it does not cut a straight line, i can see the line where it slopes off. I have no clue how to fix this and I need to get my lr done befors thanksgiving. Please help.

How is the blade? Is it the right blade for the job? A blade with 24 teeth is not good for trim or millwork. If a blade is worn out it will "walk" when a lot of it is into the material. What is the material? If it is a very tight grained, dense wood such as maple it can walk even with a brand new blade. Slowing down the cut will help
