B + STRATTON 375 motor "hunts"?

Lawnmower starts fine then after a few second (maybe 10) motor speed surges up and slows right down.Goes up and down continually and then runs o.k. just as it's about to run out of fuel . Uses a lot of fuel.Governor seems O.K.

That could be a lot of things, all carb related.
I it were mine, I'd rebuild the carb. You might get away
with just cleaning it. Not knowing what Model and Type is
is I can't offer you any specs for adjusting the carb.
