Anyone prepared to have a quick look inside their dryer could answer this one :-) (just undo 3 screws on the rear of the lid).

I am replacing the timer. A pair of black wires connects to connector 3. Should the black flying lead on connector 3 be connected to:
- connector 5 (on the same row)
- connector 23 (different row and column)

I have a Hotpoint Ultima Dryer TL71P with reverse action.

I was 99% sure and connected the black flying lead on connector 3 to connector 5 (on the same row). It seems to work as well as the original timer ...

The new £56 timer I received from them arrived in a plastic bag, ie. no padding/box of any sort ...

Note: I also left this query with Hotpoint by phone and on their web site ... 2 weeks later and no response from either method !
