Drilling tiles in bathroom?

Am I right in thinking that in order to drill through wall tiles I should make a cross with masking tape to stop the drill from slipping? Will this prevent the tile from craking?

Also what is the best way to fill existing holes in wall tiles? should i just use sealant?

Your right about the tape, use a Masonry Drill on a very slow speed to break through the glaze(NO-HAMMER ACTION)keep your weight behind it,don't blast away with a normal metal cutting drill, use the smallest drill you have until you break through the glaze it is easy to open it up later,I would fill the holes with tile cement or grout.
