How can I fix my victorian clock chimes?

I have a lovely Victorian Mantle clock I think its made of marble, unfortunately it has stopped chiming. It should chime on the hour and half hour, can I fix this myself?

More than likely the clock needs cleaning and lubricating. My suggestion is to take it to a clock mender and ask how much he would charge to put it right. But first make sure that you haven't accidentally turned the chimes off. Some clocks have a lever so that you can choose silence or chime mode.
