stihl cylinder sealant?

i am putting a new cylinder in a stihl chainsaw and there is a red sealer that is used to hold the base and the cylinder together without a gasket . stihl sells it but its very exspensive i wondered if anyone knows if you can use something else? maybe a loctite of some kind?
thanks

Exactly my point.

Hermetite will probably work, but after spending ££££ on a new cylinder, is it really worth risking it?

Sure you can try something else, but I wouldn't want to strip it all back down again just because I didn't want to spend a few quid more on the right product.
