My Ariston A1535 washing machine dial keeps on going around?

My Ariston A1535 washing machine dial keeps on going around without stopping, also the fabric conditioner does appear to go through the draw as required. Please help!

Thank you all for the advice. We had the same problem. Emptied the filter at the bottom right and discovered a random elastic band! Once removed, everything was working as normal.

I fixed our washing machine by removing the top, taking out the back of the control dial and cleaning the inside with contact cleaner.

I am having the same problem, the light flashes 10 times, does anyone know what that means

Same problem more than once - filter at the bottom had coins in it each time.

Pull off lower front panel. Unscrew cap. Wiggle foreign bodies out.

Open the hatch at the bottom and see if there's something in the filter. Mine had a sock in there somehow. I took it out and it started working fine again.

My dial keeps going around when it is overloaded. I take an item out and it works

We have had same problem on Margherita AB95 reapired under warranty maybe 3 times in its 5 years - I agree with the suggestion that the spinning dial doesn't mean any one thing is wrong but rather that it just indicates a fault - the solution already posted about the flashing red light teling you what the exact problem is - would be very useful to get the whole list of codes? Our spinnning dial always seems to relate to too heavy a load/unbalanced drum/the drain cycle - fixed this time by tilting the machine forwards while full of water! Tried to remove the filter cover thing at the bottom front edge of machine but obviously being full of water couldn't continue! We have also been advised in the past to switch off at the wall socket for 10 mins which seems to have worked sometimes for this problem.

Brilliant site. Ah the wonders of internet.

I fixed my A1324.

Clock thingy was going round and round etc.

I disconnected the discharge pipe from the sink outflow, looked inside and gave a tap, out came two shirt buttons, and a plastic sausage thing.... I'll have to talk to my 18 year old about that ...

Anyway machine works like new now .

I too had the same problem I had emptied the filter (bottom at front behind pannel) it seemed to be intermittant with this fault .... result summoned the Ariston /Hotpoint man under extended warranty ... result ... new controler board in machine.
worth noting the flashing light on the machine is a code of what the error is ie. number of flashes eg 11 flashes = pump cannot be activated ...6 flashes = program selector error

JayBee, October 2006
Mine did this, it was the brushes on the motor. The machine self tests and then sulks if it finds a fault.

Don't pay for this repair until you try this first. My Ariston was doing exactly the same when it came to the draining part of the cycle. Turned out the outflow pipe was full of plastic guitar picks (part time musician...doh).
Simply lie the machine down so that you can get underneath - use a pair of medium pliers/grips to free the holding bracket (no strength needed) and clean inside each end of the pipe with your fingers removing any objects...voila...brand new machine.
DON'T FORGET TO SWITCH THE ELECTRIC SOCKET OFF FIRST!

Hope this helps.

I got my spinning dial sorted on the Ariston AWD12S. It needed reset as I had only washed one item. Apparently it upsets its balance. So turn the dial to the black dot and switch on and off a few times. If still not working repair man said if this has happened after trying to wash only one item to reset dial to black dot a couple of times and then to put a load in and choose a programme and it should reset itself hopefully!! Also that the spinning dial is just a sign that something is wrong so could actually be anything!!!

My Ariston AWD12s Margherita is doing the same thing - spinning dial - does anyone know how to fix it or do I need the man out?

Madeleine Scott, June 2006
Mine is doing exactly the same thing, spinning dial! did you ever get it sorted out? what was it?
