Tevion DVD Maker - Help!!!?

Hi
I was wondering if you could help me to figure out how to use the Tevion DVD Maker. The instructions I got from Aldi (where I bought it) are woefully inadequete and I haven't a clue how to use it.
I have installed all the software - then connected my video recorder to my laptop via the Tevion DVD Maker USB thingy as follows -
I have plugged the SCART to White/Yellow/Red convertor into my video recorder - then plugged the white/yellow/red leads to the SCART convertor on one side and the Tevion DVD Maker USB thingy on the other - then plugged the Tevion DVD Maker USB thingy to my laptop.
I opened up the Showbiz2 software then clicked 'Record from a video tape directly to DVD' then choose my DVD-RW as the location to save the video to, then chose DVD+VR then choose the time chose 'Capture one video to DVD' then chose the Tevion USB thingy as the 'Video Source' and i get a pop-up screen with a small screen which shows 'Live....' but the screen itself is black. I click Record and a pop-up appears which says 'No video signal detected. Please check your video signal'.
Can't figure out how to solve the problem!!!
Any help much appreciated

I've spent many hour since 2008 including this month, 4/2010. I cannot get any audio through the PVR. Through the PowerProducer2 Gold I get video and audio but the file has an .PPP extension so I cannot get it to copy to a DVD.

Hello,
It is probably your video lead. A scart lead has video in and video out. Not all scart leads are fully populated. The way to test is to connect the scart to the back of the VCR then connect the red white and yellow lead to a TV (most TV's have a AV3 connection on the front panel). Select the correct AV input on your TV and see if you have a picture. If yes then the lead is OK if not then you need a lead with the output pins connecetd in the scart.
Assuming the lead is OK the next thing to check is the video capture input on the laptop is set to the correct input. The source should be set to USB2800 and the input to composite (if you are using the yellow lead). You should also check the source properties, these should be set to PAL I for the UK. For the Audio you have to connect the jack plug to your line input on your PC sound card. Again check check the source is listed as your sound card and the input should be set to line in.

I am pretty clueless on the technicalities but my son just helped me to get it to work. At the stage you have got to is your Video on the AV channel? Mine was on chammel 1 so the PC wasn't getting the signal . If your scart is in AV1 on the video then select programme number till you get A1 .You also need to press play on your Video.
Hope I am not misleading you but mine worked eventually. It is of course slow- 1 hour to download my Video then about 1 hour to convert to a DVD.
