How do I find my sound card model?

I amhaving lot

s of problems with my surround sound. I can get a buzzing sound fromthe speakers but no music. I want to check i have wired it up correctly but don't have any manualas the computer was built forme a few years agao.

Once you have finished washing it, throw it away as it will be trashed. Alternativly if you are running windows XP, go to start-all prgrams-accessories-system tools-system information and it tells you what you have under hardware - sound. Hope this helps.
P.S. the normal sound output is the green or blue plug.

Take the side panel off the pc, locate the retaining screw for the sound card if the card is a pci slot version. undo the screw, take out the sound card and look for the text on the printed circuit board that tells you amke/model etc

remove soundcard and wash with hot soapy water and you will see serial number and make on the bottom.
