renault kangoo 2001 speedo dies ?

sometimes my speedo dies on my 1.9 diesel renault kangoo and it drives like its got kangaroo petrol then a minute later it corrects itself, this happens every few days, does anybody now why, cheers

remove engine head and start it, this will clear it out leaving it running smooth.
