i have a renault megan 1400 16v car ,a few weeks ago i hit a large puddle?

i have a renault megan 1400 16v car.a few weeks ago i hit a large puddle since then the car has spluttered when changing gears and the ignition fob is hit and miss when inserted last night my partner came home said the car had stalled and now wouldnt lock ,eventually we got it to lock but in the morning when we tried to start it there was nothing just a clicking sound as if the car was attempting to start we tried to bump start it as there was no one around with jump leads to no avail so i bought a new battery no joy there either im now stuck with a car that does nothing and i cant get it to a garage even if i could afford the repair please someone help!!!!.

Sounds like you've got water in the electrics big time. You need to try and dry things out. You could try spraying anything under the bonnet that is electrical, particularly connectors with WD40 this is designed to displace water, some people swear by it!
Depending on the size of the puddle and your speed you may have forced water into things that will need opening up to dry them out but I'd try the WD40 trick first -it's quick, cheap and easy!
