De Cat of Mk3 Golf 1.8 ?

I've removed the cat from my 1.8 Golf and fitted a replacement de cat pipe. Started the car and drove it for over 3 miles. Stoped the car and it will not start again. I have a spark on all four and fuel but it just will not start.

I agree. The ECU will not give a toss if the cat is on the car or not. Try the fuel pump relay this is linked to the coil and therefore if there is a fault with the relay this could bugger up the feed from the coil to the plugs.

dont agree with n.removing the cat should not affect the starting of the car,and the lambda prob does not know that the cat is missing ,so it will keep on doing its thing

simply removing the "cat" is not the answer!!!!!!! you have to re-program the ECU to reset parameters that the engine will work with and you realise you will fail a road-side emmissions test that could mean the seizure and crushing of the car!!!!!
