Problems with AEG competence B3101-4?

Problems with AEG competence B3101-4
PNC No 944185046

The fault is; the oven will switch on, it will heat up but then it will switch itself off after say 20mins. After another 20mins, it cools down and switches back on again. I am informed that the thermostat has been changed and that
“ A 2 inch long “thing” with 4 wires attached and a plastic type covering looks burnt and over heated. One wire are attached to the timer device the others to other circuit boards”

The Lady who owns this equipment has recently been made redundant is in some distress and I am eager to help all I can.

I am hoping that this is a common problem and you can suggest a c component that requires replacement

Thank you for your time/help

how do you clean the inside glass of the main oven of a 2 oven competence

Jim Priestley, November 2011
I'm not sure about the model number but we installed a new AEG Competence in 2005 and the grill kept switching off and having replaced both the element and the thermostat the fan on the top of the oven became extremely loud. we had a private contractor replace it in exactly the same fashion as the original and in a short time the same thing happened. We got a different private engineer who established that the fan on the top had been installed the wrong way around and instead of circulating the air through the space at the top of the oven it was taking it in the wrong direction entirely. It is our firm belief that this is the manner in which we received the oven as new and was therefore a manufacturing error. It is my intention to take the matter up with AEG but I just haven't got around to it yet,

I have exactly the same problem - glad I read this or would have bought a new thermostat first.
Is the part you describe with the wires called a thermostat switch?

yep, that blue torpedo piece is your problem.that bit makes the cooling fan come on and once it is faulty causes the fault you are having..about £22 last one i had
