The left hand indicator on my xsara keeps coming on of its own accord. I,ve traced the fault to the actual stalk and have taken off the steering column cowl and removed the two small screws securing the unit to the bracket. I,ve disconnected the two wiring plugs from the back of the unit and tried to slide the unit out but it hits the side of the dashboard. It looks like the only way to remove the unit is to remove the steering wheel but i,m reluctant to do so as it has an air bag fitted. Any ideas anyone?

i seem to remember doing one of these a few years back,im sure i took the wheel of aswell.dont worry about the air bag.discinnect the battery and leave it for 15mins and i think the air bag is secured by 2 torx screws at the rear of the wheel.make sure your wheels are straight first,hope this helps
