Hotpoint DF52?

I have a Hotpoint DF52 dishwasher, that sticks at various points during the cycle, usually when the water is due to feed in. I have already changed the timer - HPT1801335. Nothing other than tipping the whole machine about 45 degrees to either side will get it to continue the wash cycle!

Do you have any ideas what the fault could be?

It humms just before it stops and does not pump the water out.

there are no lights on the front to flash, bit of a cheapo version this one I think.

When you start the dishwasher does it humm? or can you hear it trying to empty the surplus water? does it pump out the water every time? any lights flashing on the front?
