Veritas R8 Plus Alarm?

Hi All,

I have a Veritas R8 Plus alarm with 5 sensors already installed to zones 1-5. I wanted to add 2 new sensors for my garage which are installed to zones 6-7. I was not sure what the engineers code was for the alarm so we took the battery out and pressed reset twice and entered the default 4321. I have managed to program the full alarm which sets everything but i cannot setup the part alarm. I want to set zones 6-7 as part alarm.

Can someone please help?

Hi, in answer to the above, you need the installers installation book to follow the programming step by step, customer books very limited information.
installation book cost £5

Thats what i think is happening that the unit is not resetting the engineers code correctly. I have the installation guide and tried the method to reset in there but no joy. It says something about the code could be locked is there any way to unlock the unit. I spoke to the alarm company who fitted it a few years ago and they say any qualified engineer should know how to reset it?

Any ideas on this?

Thanks for you help.

A lot of alarm systems, depend on the installer, the alarm unit does not default on reset. i.e the units I use, if I set the last digit of the engineer code to a '9' that code is not over ride able. even back to factory defaults, that engineer code is fixed. Unless, the engineer changes it, only way to reset it is back to manufacturers.
Other already preset zones can be changed via user code, usually 1234 are used as defaults for user, in what ever order, engineer code could be others, IF you have the instructions and you can get access to engineer level, you must not be entering in correct order, engineer level lets you set what can and cannot be part set. check what the code you are entering.
