hi
for the last month after driving my car fro 10 mins a light comes on dashboard with a car with a spanner in the middle, everything works and it is not causing any problems, dont want to folk out loads of money at a vauxhell dealer as was about to sell car for £800.
any ideas or solutions.

Does your temp gage move to middle of dial and stay there after 20 mins or so driving... if not could be faulty temp gage sensor which will give wrong engine temp reading to emu, spanner light with car symbol will come on and clear when car is cold again. Had 1.8 2001 Vectra did this, light would only come on if I drove over 100 miles an hour as temp gage would stay at cold.. in traffic stop start would cause temp gage to move up almost half way driving on motorway for long time would see temp gage drop back to cold even if engine was well warmed up...

Hi Arron, the car with a spanner symbol is not a service due indicator, it is a warning that there is an emmisions related fault and the symbol that looks like an engine is an engine electronics failure warning, the only way to find out would be to get the fault codes read, tyre & exhaust places only charge around £30 you might be looking at a lambda sensor or EGR valve
