Ignore any access from the rear seat - you can't get to it that way. As others have said you need to remove the two triangular plastic side panels, that's the ones that are positioned just beneath the seat. They just clip in on a single grommet that is located half way along the lower edge of the panel. Just gently pull them off. Once removed, remove the screw (with allen key head) that sits next to where the grommet just come out - there's one each side. The seat can now be removed by pulling it FORWARD and UP. Reassemble in reverse.

Remove the 2 side panels left and right of the seat, a firm pull out at the rear and then unclip the front. No brute force is required just firm gentle pressure initially, then then finding the right angle to remove these panels. There is an allen bolt on either side, remove and lift the seat. Battery is there! Be careful the battery terminal is a nightmare. If you disconnect them be very careful part of the terminal doesn't drop out!! If it does and it ends up in the engine, your screwed!!
