We have the same problem as Laurie. I have looked under my chair and compared it to the love seat and couch that aso recline but do not see any missing or bent parts. We have had ours about 3 1/2 years and do not use it that much. I am not sure that it ever work correctly because my wife and I set mainly in the love seat and most of our guests set on the couch.
