ive got an escort 55 van 2001 Y reg. 1.4 petrol version. its been sat for a while as i work away and as a result the battery died on me so i bought a new one and fitted it. since then my rev counter stopped working. every now and again it moves right the way round to 7 and back just while its ticking over.

Any ideas?

Try disconnecting battery cables and touch them together then recoonect and recheck .....works on a cadillac and others .......
