How to get a screw out?

I've been trying to follorw Marci's directions on repairing the off/on switch on my Kirby 3. I know it's great and will do the trick, but I have one screw I just can't get loose. I've banged on it, sparyed it, all with no results. I just can't get it loose.

Any suggestions?

Sometimes, you have to grind a slot into it with a dremel tool, so you can use a standard screw driver. This is last resort, but always works (or at least breaks off the head).
