Intermittent petrol smell, Renalut Scenic 1999?

I have an intermittent petrol smell. This is ususally at low rev and quickly clears with fast driving. This seems to occur if it has been stopped when hot and then restarted. It seems to be residual fuel in mainfold rather than a leak.
Any ideas?
