The reversing lights on my '04' ulysse have just started playing up-will be checking connection on gearbox switch first, then check out switch itself for fault.

it might be the wire on gear box or a bad earth

check the bulbs, its not as unusual as you think for both to go at the same time, if there ok it will be the switch on the gearbox
