my vauxhall astra has central locking , but this has stopped working. what do i need to do? can i do it myself or do i need to go to some one and how much would it roughly cost?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings...
sounds likely its the central locking solenoid (cheapest first) approx £25-£35 but with labour etc garage will cost the wrong side of £100 especially main dealer.
If not central locking solenoid could be motor (unlikely) and lots more ££'s
No it's tough to get someone to fix as it's door trim off removal of handles etc then fighting past window mechanisms etc in the door then detecting which solenoid is k'put...
