How can I fix my Hoover TC650 Tumble Dryer?

Left it a while without cleaning the condenser, now the filter care light stays on even when filter and housing are clean and dryer won't heat up - just goes round cold

The thermostat (actually a thermal cutout) has opened, these cannot be reset. Neither can you buy a replacement from Hoover, you have to replace the whole heater, about £24 from Ebay. This is a bit silly seeing as that thermostat is very sensetive and is there to protect the heater from burning out and and going open circuit. But why bother protecting it with a weak link if you have to replace it anyway. I would be tempted to short this stat out, the heater has another stat to protect from any dangerous overheating. This is a common problem with Hoover and Candy and a bit of a ripoff, this stat could easily be made to be reset with a button on the back but maybe hoover doesn't want them to last too long..
